The Florida Association of Family and Consumer Sciences is a scientific and educational association of professionals, dedicated to improving the quality of individual and family life through education, research, cooperative programs, and public information. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for families. The Association acts through individuals and communities to effect the optimum balance between families and their environments. The mission is accomplished by:
- mechanics for unifying efforts of professionals
- processes for developing and implementing member-set goals
- opportunities for continuing professional development
- methods for developing and applying theory
- methods for facilitating and disseminating current research
- systems for establishing standards of professional conduct and service
- interactions with other agencies and organizations on common concerns
- leadership in areas of family concern
- mechanisms for communicating public interests on family issues to AAFCS members
- access to the expertise of FAFCS members
