FAFCS members are elementary, secondary, and post-secondary educators, researchers, and administrators, cooperative extension educators, and other professionals in business and industry, not-for-profit organizations and government.
FAFCS professionals develop, integrate, and provide practical knowledge about financial literacy; child care and parenting; conflict resolution; consumer education; housing and environment; apparel and textiles; and dietetics and nutrition. By combining research-based knowledge, practical approaches, and reflective analysis, our members work with others to improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
The Florida Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (FAFCS), being an affiliate of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), supports the mission of AAFCS, which is: to provide leadership and support for professionals whose work assists individuals, families, and communities in making informed decisions about their wellbeing, relationships, and resources to achieve optimal quality of life.
AAFCS was founded in 1909 as the American Home Economics Association. In 1994, the name of the association was changed, by a vote of senators representing all 50 states and Puerto Rico, to the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
